A former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Sheila Bartels, believes the New Patriotic Party (NPP) still has a strong chance of regaining the support of Ghanaians ahead of the 2028 general elections.

Speaking during an appearance on Joy Prime Morning Show on Joy Prime on Wednesday, April 1, Bartels said the party can win back the hearts of voters if it focuses on rebuilding trust and addressing the concerns of ordinary citizens.

According to her, Ghana’s political landscape remains dynamic, and voters are often willing to reconsider their choices when political parties demonstrate commitment to solving national challenges.

Bartels explained that although the NPP may currently face criticism from sections of the public, the party still possesses the experience, political structure, and grassroots support needed to bounce back. She emphasized that internal unity and proper reorganization within the party will be key factors in helping the NPP reposition itself ahead of the next electoral cycle.

“The NPP has a very good chance of winning the hearts of Ghanaians again in 2028 if the party reflects on the concerns of the people and works towards addressing them,” she noted during the discussion.

Bartels further stated that political parties must constantly engage with citizens, listen to their grievances, and propose practical solutions that improve the living conditions of the population.

She also urged party members and leaders to remain focused on strengthening their connection with the electorate while developing policies that respond to the country’s economic and social needs.

The former legislator added that rebuilding confidence among voters requires consistent engagement, transparency, and a renewed commitment to the values that initially earned the party public support.

Her remarks come at a time when political analysts and stakeholders have already begun discussions about the future of Ghana’s political parties as the country gradually looks toward the 2028 general elections.

Despite the current political debates, Bartels remains optimistic that with the right strategies and renewed dedication to national development, the NPP can regain the trust and confidence of the Ghanaian electorate.
