Ghana Tourism Authority Deputy CEO Abeiku Aggrey Santana has thrown his weight behind President John Dramani Mahama for the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana’s prestigious Marketing Man of the Year award, describing the president’s communication style since returning to office as nothing short of exceptional.
Speaking to Lily Mohammed on Starr FM Thursday, the veteran media personality argued that Mahama has displayed a rare command of public engagement — skillfully shaping national perception, maintaining strong visibility in policy discourse, and projecting Ghana’s image on the global stage.
“Marketing is not limited to selling products,” Santana noted, making the case that effective communication of ideas, leadership vision, and policy direction falls squarely within the discipline’s scope. By that measure, he said, the president more than qualifies.

Santana pointed specifically to how Mahama positions his administration’s initiatives and sustains public interest as evidence of the kind of marketing instinct the CIMG award was designed to honour. In his assessment, the president’s ability to connect with citizens while simultaneously marketing Ghana beyond its borders reflects qualities the institute actively looks for in its nominees.
The CIMG Marketing Man of the Year is among Ghana’s most respected corporate honours, awarded annually to individuals who demonstrate outstanding marketing leadership and measurable influence within their field. Should Mahama’s name enter the conversation, it would mark a notable crossover between political leadership and professional marketing recognition.
