Many fans were dismayed when it was revealed that Simon Cowell would be temporarily absent from “America’s Got Talent” due to back surgery.

Comedian Kenan Thompson was named as Simon Cowell’s temporary replacement on the upcoming “America’s Got Talent” episode while the latter recovers from back surgery.

According to the NBC competition series, the legendary comedian will take over the Judges’ table.

“Kenan Thompson is joining AGT as a guest Judge! 🎉”, it was announced on Instagram.

Alongside fellow judges Sofía Vergara, Howie Mandel, and Mel B, the 48-year-old “Saturday Nite Live” star will make an appearance on Season 21 of the reality show on Tuesday.

It is uncertain if the actor will make an appearance in the final five episodes of “AGT” or if other unexpected judges will take over.

Since 2003, Thompson has been a cast member of “SNL.” Additionally, he starred in the late 1990s television sitcom “Kenan & Kel” and portrayed Dexter Reed in the 1997 comedy “Good Burger.”

When Cowell, 66, hurt his back in an electric bike accident in 2020, the actor previously served as a guest judge.

In order to undergo and recuperate from the treatment that would address his persistent back problems, Cowell would have to miss a few weeks of “AGT.”
