Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG) has deepened its financial inclusion agenda with the launch of a new initiative designed to help Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) grow their businesses and stand on firmer economic ground.
Named the PWD Inclusion Loan Initiative, the programme pairs access to business credit with financial education, tackling head-on the obstacles that have long kept many PWDs on the margins of Ghana’s formal banking system.
Speaking at the launch, CBG Managing Director Dr. Naomi Wolali Kwetey urged the pioneering cohort of 13 beneficiaries to put the funds to productive use. She stressed that how well this first phase performs will help determine whether the initiative can be scaled up to reach even more Persons with Disabilities in the future.

The programme was made possible through a collaboration with the Korklu Foundation, founded by Hon. Dorcas Naa Korklu Afotey — a partnership that underscores the growing importance of financial institutions teaming up with grassroots organisations to serve communities often overlooked by mainstream finance.
Beyond disbursing loans, the initiative is built to equip beneficiaries with the practical knowledge and tools needed to run and expand sustainable businesses — narrowing the financial access gap that has historically disadvantaged PWDs.
CBG frames the effort as part of a wider push for inclusive economic participation, one that empowers Persons with Disabilities to build resilient livelihoods, establish lasting enterprises, and play a fuller role in Ghana’s economic story.
This initiative is also a statement about what collaboration can achieve — showing how banks and mission-driven organisations, working together, can unlock financial opportunity for groups the formal system has too often left behind.
