Delta Backs TSA Pay Restoration After That ‘Big’ U.S Shutdown

Delta Air Lines has voiced its support for Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers following an executive order restoring their compensation — a move the airline welcomed after weeks of disruption caused by the partial United States federal government shutdown.

In a statement, Delta expressed gratitude to the administration for acting to reinstate pay for TSA personnel, acknowledging the critical role the officers played in keeping airports secure even as the shutdown stretched resources and extended security wait times at airports across the country.

The airline also extended thanks to its customers for enduring longer-than-usual queues, and to its own staff for continuing to deliver service under difficult conditions.

“Delta is grateful that the executive order announced today by the President will restore pay to TSA professionals, and we thank them for working to keep our airports secure during the partial government shutdown,” the airline said. “We also thank our customers for their patience amid longer-than-usual security lines, and our employees for taking care of our customers during a challenging time for travel.”

The statement reflects the airline’s broader recognition that airport security and passenger experience are deeply intertwined — and that the dedication of TSA officers during the shutdown helped prevent a more severe breakdown in the travel system.
