Going green in Ghana just got a lot less expensive — at least upfront. Stanbic Bank Ghana has rolled out #BePowered, a new financing platform built to knock down the single biggest obstacle standing between Ghanaians and clean energy: cost.
Full Financing, Zero Excuses
At the heart of BePowered is a simple but ambitious promise — financing of up to 100% for solar systems, electric vehicles, and other green technologies. That means individuals, SMEs, corporates, existing clients, and newcomers to the bank alike can access funding without having to front the full cost of switching to cleaner energy sources themselves.
The platform was unveiled at an event that pulled together Stanbic partners, clients, and key figures from Ghana’s clean-energy and business ecosystem — a signal that the bank sees this as more than an internal product launch, but a broader industry moment.
“Growth That Lasts” — The Case for Sustainable Banking
Dinah Kaleo-Bioh, Head of Business and Commercial Banking at Stanbic Bank Ghana, used her remarks at the launch to frame the initiative within a bigger continental story. Her message: Africa’s development can’t just be fast — it has to be durable, generating value that outlasts the immediate moment, both economically and environmentally.
Sustainability Starting Today, Not Someday
For Chidinma Braye-Yankee, Head of Brand and Marketing, #BePowered is as much about mindset as it is about money. She described the initiative as an effort to educate and empower Ghanaians to see sustainability not as a distant goal, but as something achievable right now — a message aimed at shifting how people think about clean energy adoption, not just how they pay for it.
How Stanbic Bank Ghana Delivered Its Strongest Earnings In Years
Rounding out the launch, Wendy Nelly Sarpong, Head of Vehicle and Asset Finance, spoke to the practical mechanics behind the platform. She pointed to tailored asset-financing structures built specifically to ease the acquisition of EVs and solar installations — spreading costs over time so customers aren’t forced to absorb the full financial hit of switching technologies all at once.
The launch closed with stakeholders rallying around a common goal: advancing sustainable development, accelerating the energy transition, and strengthening business resilience across Ghana.
Stanbic Bank is now inviting individuals, entrepreneurs, and organisations interested in the platform to visit any branch nationwide and speak with a Relationship Manager, or reach out directly to the bank’s Vehicle and Asset Finance team to explore what #BePowered can offer.
The bank frames the initiative as part of a longer-term commitment — one aimed at helping everyday Ghanaians and businesses alike keep pace with the country’s shifting energy landscape.
