Dr. Amoakohene Is Just Using Kumawood Actors For Political Popularity

Entertainment pundit Ola Michael has accused the Ashanti Regional Minister, Frank Amoakohene, of using actors from the Kumawood industry to boost his personal popularity rather than fulfilling the promises he made before assuming office.

Speaking on the Tuesday, April 7 edition of Entertainment Review on Peace FM, Ola Michael expressed disappointment over what he described as a shift in focus by the regional minister.

According to him, prior to taking office, Dr. Amoakohene had made several commitments regarding support and development for the Kumawood movie industry. However, Ola Michael believes the current engagements with actors appear more aimed at enhancing the minister’s public image rather than addressing the real challenges facing the industry.

He argued that Kumawood actors should not be reduced to tools for political publicity, stressing that the creative sector in the Ashanti Region needs meaningful policies and concrete support rather than symbolic gestures.

Ola Michael also noted that many stakeholders within the industry are expecting practical initiatives such as funding support, training opportunities, and strategic policies that could help revive the once-thriving Kumawood movie industry.

The entertainment critic urged the minister to focus on implementing the commitments he made to the creative arts community before taking office.

His remarks aligns withGhana’s film industry, particularly in the Ashanti Region, which remains the traditional home of the Kumawood movie sector.
