Ghana’s bulk petroleum storage and transportation company, BOST Energies Limited, marked a significant leadership transition on Monday, February 16, 2026, as it formally bid farewell to its outgoing Deputy Managing Director and welcomed her successor in a ceremony held in Accra.
The occasion was prompted by the appointment of Ms. Adwoa Serwaa Bondzie by President John Dramani Mahama as Executive Secretary of the Ghana Energy Commission — a move that opened the way for Mr. Salifu Nat Acheampong, a long-serving member of the BOSTenergies team, to step into the Deputy Managing Director role.
The ceremony brought together the company’s management and staff to celebrate Ms. Bondzie’s contributions and officially welcome her successor.
Managing Director Mr. Afetsi Awoonor set the tone with warm but candid remarks, describing Ms. Bondzie’s departure with contrasting emotions. He credited her with championing an organisational culture built on discipline, excellence, staff welfare, and teamwork — and called her exit a significant loss for BOST Energies, even as he acknowledged it as a well-deserved gain for Ghana’s broader energy sector.

Ms. Bondzie, in her farewell address, expressed gratitude to colleagues and management for their support throughout her tenure. She spoke of BOST Energies as a place she considers home and reaffirmed her desire to see the company continue to grow and excel long after her departure.
A Familiar Face Steps Up
Mr. Salifu Nat Acheampong is not a new face at BOST Energies. He joined the company in February 2013 as Manager of Corporate Communications and External Affairs, where he led strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, brand management, and media relations for over a decade. Most recently, he served as Executive Technical Liaison, advising the Managing Director directly — a role that positioned him closely to the company’s strategic leadership before his elevation.
In his remarks, Acheampong expressed gratitude to President Mahama for the appointment and pledged full commitment to supporting the Managing Director and advancing the company’s vision. He brings considerable academic credentials to the role: a Master of Arts in Mass Communications from the University of Leicester, a postgraduate diploma in Diplomacy from the University of Nottingham, a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from Nottingham Trent University, and an Executive Graduate Certificate in Managing Energy Transition from the University of Texas — a profile that reflects both broad intellectual grounding and a deliberate focus on the energy sector’s evolving demands.
Immediate Internal Challenges Ahead For Salifu Nat Acheampong and BOST Energies:
Stepping into a role vacated by a well-regarded predecessor is never easy. Acheampong must establish his own leadership identity while maintaining the organisational culture Ms. Bondzie helped build — discipline, excellence, and teamwork — without simply mimicking her approach. As a long-serving internal promotion, he also faces the delicate task of transitioning from colleague to senior leader in the eyes of staff who have known him for over a decade.
BOST Energies Ltd. operates at the heart of Ghana’s petroleum supply chain — a sector under significant strain. Persistent challenges include aging infrastructure, fuel smuggling and revenue leakages, foreign exchange pressures on fuel importation, and the broader transition away from fossil fuels that is reshaping energy companies globally. Navigating these while keeping operations efficient and financially sound will demand strategic clarity from the new DMD.
Africa Must Profit From Its Wealth, Says UN Secretary-General
Acheampong’s Executive Graduate Certificate in Managing Energy Transition from the University of Texas signals awareness of where the global energy conversation is heading. Ghana is under pressure to balance its dependence on petroleum revenues with commitments to cleaner energy. How BOST Energies positions itself in that transition — whether as an obstacle or a participant — may define its relevance in the decades ahead.
Political and Institutional Dynamics
With Ms. Bondzie now leading the Ghana Energy Commission — the very body that regulates the sector BOST Energies operates in — the relationship between the two institutions will require careful management. Acheampong will need to navigate that dynamic professionally and transparently.
Communications as a Strategic Asset
His background in corporate communications is both a strength and an expectation. Stakeholders, staff, and the public will watch how BOSTenergies manages its narrative under his watch — particularly around issues of transparency, performance, and accountability.
