Joan Laporta has been re-elected as FC Barcelona president in a commanding victory, claiming a third overall term — and his second consecutive since 2021 — that will see him lead the Catalan giants until 2031.
The election was held on March 15, 2026, with members casting their votes in person at polling stations across Barcelona, primarily at Spotify Camp Nou, as well as in Girona, Tarragona, Lido, and Andorra.
Laporta’s “Defensem el Barça” candidacy dominated the ballot, pulling in 32,934 votes — representing 68.18% of the total — to comprehensively defeat Víctor Font, who received 14,385 votes (29.78%). Blank votes accounted for 2.04% of the count, with 177 ballots declared void or invalid. In all, 48,480 votes were cast, reflecting a turnout of approximately 42% of eligible club members.
The contest was a repeat of the 2021 presidential race, in which Laporta also overcame Font to reclaim the presidency. While several pre-candidates initially emerged — among them businessman Marc Ciria and others including Xavi Vilajoana, Daniel Juan, and William Maddock — only Laporta and Font ultimately qualified after successfully gathering and validating the required minimum of approximately 2,337 member signatures.

Laporta entered the vote on strong footing, buoyed by the club’s ongoing resurgence, visible backing from coach Hansi Flick and the playing squad, and notable endorsements including one from the widow of club legend Johan Cruyff.
As required by club regulations, Laporta had temporarily stepped down during the campaign period. He is set to be formally sworn in on July 1, 2026, with the incoming president promising exciting times ahead for the club and its supporters.
