IGP Promotes Officers For Cracking Down Robbers At GOIL

Ghana’s IGP has rewarded swift detective work with career-changing promotions, sending a clear signal that excellence in the fight against violent crime will not go unnoticed.

Inspector-General of Police Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno has promoted five officers who distinguished themselves in the arrest of suspects behind the armed robbery at the GOIL Filling Station at Kwafokrom, near Nsawam in the Eastern Region — a recognition that underscores the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to rewarding professionalism on the frontline.

The five honoured officers are Chief Inspector Eric Otoo, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Otu, General Sergeant Philip Amoah, Policewoman Constable Victoria Asiedu, and Policewoman Constable Rosemond A. Frimpong.

The rewards were not merely symbolic. Chief Inspectors Eric Otoo and Emmanuel Otu earned the most coveted prize available to serving officers — direct entry into the Ghana Police Academy, a fast-track pathway that could reshape the trajectory of their careers.

Meanwhile, General Sergeant Philip Amoah, Policewoman Constable Victoria Asiedu, and Policewoman Constable Rosemond A. Frimpong were each elevated to their next ranks, a tangible affirmation of their contributions in the field.

The promotions follow what authorities described as an exemplary display of professionalism, dedication, and rapid response. Working with speed and precision, the officers coordinated the arrest of two suspects connected to the filling station robbery — a case that had raised alarm in communities along the Accra-Kumasi corridor.

The IGP and members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) appeared before the officers to personally commend their commitment to duty, a gesture that signals just how seriously the Service’s leadership views the morale and motivation of its rank-and-file.

Beyond the individual rewards, Thursday’s announcement carried a broader institutional message. The Police Service used the occasion to reaffirm its resolve to confront violent crime head-on, assuring Ghanaians that protecting life and property remains its central mandate.

For the five promoted officers, the recognition is both personal milestone and public symbol — proof that when Ghana’s police officers rise to the occasion, the institution rises with them.
