The Post, The Anger— Now, Serwaa Amihere Threatens To Sue

Serwaa Amihere

Media personality and legal practitioner Serwaa Amihere has put an X user on notice over a comment she considers defamatory — and the exchange has set social media ablaze.

The drama was ignited when a user identified as Mr. Nathaniel shared a purported news card claiming Serwaa Amihere had declared herself a virgin. Beneath the post, he allegedly wrote:

“Serwaa Amihere ei 😂 eno be chairman wontumi wey dey eat hmm.”

The comment did not sit well with the lawyer, who fired back swiftly and with unmistakable intent. In a terse but loaded reply, she wrote:

“You will prove what you just typed!”
Four words. But in legal terms, they carry significant weight.

For those familiar with how defamation law operates in Ghana, Serwaa’s response reads less like an emotional reaction and more like a calculated legal warning. Under Ghanaian law, defamation arises when a person publishes or communicates statements that damage another’s reputation. Should the matter proceed to court, Mr. Nathaniel would be required to substantiate his claim — or face the legal consequences of failing to do so.

As of the time of this report, it remains unclear whether formal proceedings have been initiated. No retraction from Mr. Nathaniel has been publicly issued, and the post continues to circulate online.

The incident has triggered broader conversations about the boundaries of free expression on social media — particularly when it comes to commenting on public figures. While some users have sided with Serwaa, calling for greater responsibility online, others have questioned the authenticity of the news card that started the controversy in the first place.

What is clear, however, is that Serwaa Amihere is not prepared to let the comment slide — and if legal action follows, Mr. Nathaniel may find himself in very uncomfortable territory.
