Former Electoral Commission Chairperson Charlotte Osei has been appointed Acting Executive Director of the Electoral Institute for Sustainable Democracy in Africa (EISA), effective 1 July 2026.
Her appointment follows a decision by the Board of Directors of EISA, on which she has served as a board member since January 2020.
EISA is one of Africa’s leading organisations dedicated to promoting democracy, good governance, and credible electoral processes across the continent. For the past 30 years, the institution has played a pivotal role in strengthening democratic institutions, supporting electoral management bodies, building institutional capacity, and encouraging inclusive political participation in more than 40 African countries.
Charlotte Osei brings extensive experience in electoral governance, public administration, and democratic development to the role. During her career, she has been recognised for her contributions to election management and governance reforms in Ghana and across Africa.

Her appointment is expected to further advance EISA’s mission of supporting peaceful, transparent, and credible elections while deepening democratic governance and citizen participation throughout the continent.
As Acting Executive Director, Charlotte Osei will lead the organisation’s strategic initiatives and programmes aimed at reinforcing democratic institutions and promoting sustainable governance across Africa.
