Due to suspicions that its ambassador to the Central African Republic engaged dozens of women in his official house, generating possible security issues, France has initiated disciplinary actions against Bruno Foucher.
In light of Russia’s growing influence in the former French colony, relations between Paris and CAR have sharply deteriorated in recent years, and the investigation comes as Paris attempts to mend those ties.
Reports state that between January 2024 and March 2026, the ambassador, 65-year-old Bruno Foucher, invited roughly thirty ladies between the ages of 20 and 30 into his home, some of whom stayed overnight. Officials reported a security breach as a result of the trips.
According to the weekly, the ambassador even admitted to having sex with two young women.
However, the incident was investigated by the French Foreign Ministry, and the results and the ambassador’s disciplinary actions are still pending.

Following an on-site examination by the ministry in April, disciplinary actions were initiated.
Since 2023, Foucher, a professional diplomat, has been the ambassador to CAR. He served as ambassador to Iran from 2011 to 2016, Lebanon from 2017 to 2020, and Chad from 2006 to 2011.
The ambassador received roughly fifteen visits each month, according to Le Canard enchaî, which claimed to have obtained the inspection report.
Additionally, he allegedly gave the order for one of the young women to remain in the house while he was away.
Jean-Noël Barrot, the French foreign minister, has commended the “full restoration of relations” between France and CAR when he visited Bangui in March 2026.
