Jamaican dancehall star Shenseea is on the road to recovery after a sudden illness forced her to postpone a scheduled performance in Réunion Island.
The singer reportedly fell ill shortly after performing at the Sômarôho Festival in Nosy Be, Madagascar, on August 7. She revealed that she was experiencing severe pain and was unsure whether the cause was a stomach infection, food poisoning or malaria.
Upon arriving in Réunion Island, Shenseea was immediately taken to hospital for medical attention. Her health situation subsequently led organizers to postpone her August 8 concert at La Nordev in Saint-Denis. The decision was also linked to illness affecting some members of her team.
However, the “Shenseea” hitmaker has since offered fans a reassuring update. On August 15, she shared footage of herself back in the gym, appearing stronger and focused on regaining her fitness. She also expressed appreciation to fans who supported and encouraged her during the difficult period.

Despite the setback, Shenseea remains scheduled for a busy international festival run. Her upcoming dates include Rototom Sunsplash in Benicàssim, Spain, on August 20, followed by Hangout Fest in Montreal, Canada, on August 23, and a performance at Markham Fairgrounds in Ontario, Canada, on September 6.
Her recent career momentum has also continued outside the festival circuit. Her collaboration with Daddy Yankee, “Echo,” featured on the FIFA World Cup 2026 album, made history by making Shenseea the first Jamaican female artist to top Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart. She also released the music video for “Brucksweat” in July.
With her latest recovery update suggesting that she is regaining her strength, Shenseea appears determined to put the health scare behind her and return to the stage for the remainder of her international festival schedule.
