Akosua Manu, a spokesperson for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has verbally attacked Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), accusing him of making repeated false statements and casting doubt on his reliability.
On ‘Good Morning Ghana’ on Metro TV, Akosua Manu stated:
“Sammy Gyamfi has a reputation for lying. If a Liar Tells You to Go to Court, He Knows the Judge”.
Her remarks coincide with a growing political and public controversy around Mr. Gyamfi, the GoldBod, and claims of monetary losses associated with Ghana’s Domestic Gold Purchase Program.
GoldBod is willing to examine its financial statements and business practices, according to Sammy Gyamfi. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, was recently challenged by him to appear before Parliament and provide evidence supporting allegations that GoldBod caused large financial losses.
Gyamfi claims that GoldBod’s certified 2025 financial statements showed an overall surplus of more over GH¢5.4 billion and an operating surplus of GH¢907 million. He has maintained that official inquiry and evidence, not political charges, should resolve the dispute.
GoldBod Is Under Attack: They Need Prayers
But Akosua Manu is still not persuaded. Instead of explicitly addressing the serious concerns expressed regarding the organization’s finances, she has accused GoldBod leaders of responding to criticism with personal attacks. She maintained that issues pertaining to the purported losses should not be obscured by personal charges and political discussions.
As a result, her most recent remarks have exacerbated the already heated political conflict between the opposition and the ruling party about GoldBod and the administration of Ghana’s gold reserves.
The dispute brings to light a common aspect of Ghanaian politics: conflicting assertions, rebuttals, and requests for opponents to provide evidence in court or Parliament.
In the end, documentary evidence, audited finances, and independent inspection will be more important for both sides’ legitimacy than political hyperbole.
As the GoldBod scandal continues to dominate public discourse, Akosua Manu’s incendiary claim that “he knows the judge” is currently unfounded.
