Public officers risking their peace of mind to uphold the law deserve medals, not intimidation—that was the central message delivered by Solomon Owusu during his appearance on Joy Prime’s Insight program.
Condemning the recent alleged mistreatment of a female Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) operative, the United Party (UP) Communication Director insisted that her steadfast performance on the job merits national commendation rather than targeted harassment. He emphasized that when an agent acts in the line of duty, she does not represent herself or a isolated agency; she acts on behalf of the entire state. Therefore, undermining her authority is an affront to the republic itself.
Owusu took his critique a step further by calling on law enforcement to swiftly identify and arrest the men responsible for the aggression. Allowing individuals to bully state officials with impunity, he warned, sets a dangerous precedent that undermines public institutions and deters dedicated officers from enforcing the law.

His forceful stance has reignited a broader national dialogue regarding workplace safety and respect for public servants in Ghana. Beyond defending a single officer, Owusu’s message underscores an urgent imperative: those tasked with safeguarding the nation’s integrity must be protected and empowered to execute their duties without fear of retribution.
