On February 18, 2026, Patrick Kluivert—former Dutch international, Cruyff Foundation ambassador, and Ajax legend—officially opened the Cruyff Court Patrick Kluivert in Amsterdam-Noord, the very neighbourhood where he grew up and first fell in love with street football.

The multifunctional sports court, developed in collaboration with the Johan Cruyff Foundation and the Municipality of Amsterdam, is situated in the Loenermark area (at Loenermark 317), surrounded by high-rise flats, near a community centre and within easy reach of several local schools.

Beyond football, it supports basketball and general fitness activities, serving as a lively, inclusive space for young people to play, connect, and grow.

Joined by local youngsters and Jordi Cruyff during the ceremony, Kluivert unveiled the court’s nameplate and shared heartfelt reflections. He noted that he and the late Johan Cruyff shared “the same football heart”—rooted in Ajax and Amsterdam, with FC Barcelona as a home—and a shared conviction that football must stay “simple, clear, and above all pure.”

Expressing deep pride in having a court in the area that shaped him, he highlighted sport’s powerful role in children’s personal development. The court features an eco-friendly, durable artificial surface called Pure Play, ensuring safe, year-round use. Local community coaches will lead weekly sports sessions to boost participation and skill-building among youth.

This opening marks a key milestone in the ongoing partnership between the Cruyff Foundation and Dutch retailer Action (which has a nearby store at Buikslotermeerplein).

The collaboration, active since 2022 and expanding across Europe, includes plans for more Cruyff Courts in the Netherlands (such as in Alkmaar in March 2026) and countries like Germany, France, and Spain throughout the year.
