Broadcaster Omanhene Kwabena Asante has advised GoldBod Chief Executive Officer Sammy Gyamfi to develop a more thicker skin and learn to withstand criticism that comes with occupying a high-profile public position.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, Asante said he was surprised that the GoldBod CEO appeared unsettled by recent criticisms and allegations directed at him, particularly to the extent of holding a press conference to respond to some of the claims.

According to him, Sammy Gyamfi, considering his previous experience in public discourse and political commentary, should be better prepared to deal with criticism, especially now that he occupies a powerful and highly scrutinised position.

Omanhene Kwabena Asante argued that Gyamfi should understand that criticism is an inevitable part of public service and leadership, and should therefore not allow every allegation or attack to provoke a reaction.

He noted that the nature of Gyamfi’s current responsibilities requires him to demonstrate composure and resilience when faced with criticism from political opponents, civil society actors, journalists and members of the public.

“From where Sammy Gyamfi is coming from, he should be able to handle these attacks,” Asante said, stressing that the GoldBod CEO must recognise the weight of the office he occupies.

He further described GoldBod as an institution with a critical role in Ghana’s economy, making the position of its CEO one that naturally attracts intense public interest and scrutiny.

Asante therefore encouraged Sammy Gyamfi to focus on his responsibilities and develop the ability to absorb criticism without becoming overly defensive.
