Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, has cautioned the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) against attributing any future increase in fuel prices in Ghana to the ongoing conflict involving Iran and other Middle Eastern countries.
Speaking on Adom FM’s popular morning current affairs programme, ‘Dwaso Nsem’, on Monday, March 2, 2026, Hon. Glover expressed concern over what he described as potential inconsistency in the NDC’s approach to fuel pricing explanations.
According to him, the NDC, while in opposition, repeatedly criticised the previous government whenever global factors such as international oil price fluctuations or geopolitical tensions were cited as reasons for fuel price increases. He therefore warned that the party should not now rely on similar arguments to justify possible hikes under its administration.
“I hope the NDC does not come out to say oil prices have gone up in Ghana because of the Iran and Middle East wars. They attacked us with this same issue during our reign,” Hon. Glover stated.
He stressed that Ghanaians are well-informed and expect governments to take responsibility for their economic decisions, rather than shift blame to external developments. While acknowledging that global events can affect oil prices, he insisted that leadership demands honesty, consistency, and accountability.

Hon. Glover further urged the government to focus on pragmatic policies that would cushion citizens from rising fuel costs, noting that fuel price increases have a direct impact on transportation fares, food prices, and the overall cost of living.
His comments come amid heightened global tensions in the Middle East, which have raised concerns about possible disruptions in global oil supply and subsequent price increases on the international market.
