They Keep Lying To Us: Kwabena Asante Slams Politicians’ Dishonesty

Omanhene Kwabena Asante

Omanhene Kwabena Asante, a prominent journalist and commentator on Ghanaian politics, has once again voiced strong criticism of the country’s political leaders for their ongoing deception of citizens through unfulfilled promises and lack of real progress.

During his appearance on ‘Ekosii Sen’, the popular current affairs show on Asempa 94.7 FM, on Monday, March 2, 2026, Asante lambasted politicians across the spectrum for persistently misleading the public. He accused them of treating citizens with contempt by prioritizing personal and party interests—especially winning the next general election—over genuine national development and accountability.

He highlighted how politicians hop from one media outlet to another, trading accusations and engaging in bitter rivalries primarily to secure power, rather than addressing the pressing needs of ordinary Ghanaians.

“They keep lying to us,” he remarked. “It’s unfortunate they don’t think about anybody apart from how their parties will win power the next four years—that’s all!! It’s sad how they see us.”

He emphasized that despite successive governments’ repeated assurances and policy announcements, the daily hardships faced by most citizens—ranging from economic pressures to infrastructure deficits—show little to no meaningful improvement.

Asante urged political leaders to shift away from mere rhetoric and deliver concrete actions that truly enhance living standards and drive sustainable national progress.

This critique aligns with Asante’s longstanding pattern of holding both major parties (NPP and NDC) accountable for what he sees as empty talk without impactful results, a theme that resonates amid recent discussions on national issues like the economy, governance, and post-State of the Nation Address reflections.
