After 20 years in the ministry, Pastor Patience Kokundeka Museveni Rwabwogo, the second daughter and third child of President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, was consecrated as an Episcopal bishop of Covenant Nations Church in Uganda on Sunday, August 23.
When Patience devoted her life to Jesus Christ at the age of eleven, she began her Christian journey.
Vice President Jessica Alupo, well-known Nigerian preacher Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, security chiefs, diplomats, and religious leaders were among the dignitaries present at the event.
Patience, who goes on to become the family’s first bishop, stated that her paternal grandmother and maternal grandparents, who were among the first Christians in their respective extended families, lay the spiritual groundwork for her religion.
President Museveni expressed pride in the achievement, calling it an unprecedented one.
Yoweri Museveni noted that none of his great-grandparents or grandparents joined the Church, making his parents, Mzee Amos Kaguta and his mother, alongside himself, the first in the family to join the Church in 1947.
“I never had even a catechist in my family, so I thank God for having a whole bishop banange (my children),” he said.
Bishop Patience said in an earlier interview that her consecration was a summons to increased responsibility rather than a quest for higher status:
“I never sought this office.” This consecration, in my opinion, is about greater duty, deeper consecration, and a higher degree of service rather than prestige or recognition,” she stated.
About 20 years ago, Covenant Nations Church was founded as a result of her spiritual development.

The church started out as a small house fellowship where friends and family got together for Bible study, prayer, and worship.
According to her, many mistakes are avoided when young people learn about God’s purpose at an early age.
The First Family and Patience’s husband, businessman Odrek Rwabwogo, attended the consecration event at the Maya Campus of Covenant Nations Church in Kyengera Town Council, Wakiso District.
Bishop Dr. LaDonna Osborn, a well-known American evangelist, served as the ceremony’s principal celebrant.
