After the Ghanaian champions were defeated 1-0 by five-time African champions TP Mazembe in a thrilling CAF Champions League first-leg match at the TnA Stadium in Tarkwa, Medeama SC’s comeback to the continental stage was severely damaged.

The defeat leaves Medeama with everything to play for in the return leg, which is scheduled for September 12 at the Stade TP Mazembe in Lubumbashi.
The Ghanaian champions now need to overturn the one-goal deficit on Mazembe’s home turf — a daunting assignment, but not an impossible one.
Medeama would need two clear unanswered goals which would take them through to the next preliminary round, even a one-goal victory would force the tie into a decisive outcome under the competition’s rules.
