With the introduction of an AI-enabled Job Board feature on the MTN Skills Academy, MTN is furthering its commitment to digital and economic inclusion by providing learners with access to job opportunities, in-demand courses, and skills assistance on a single platform.
The feature is different from traditional job-search sites that are mostly concerned with job listings because it integrates learning, job discovery, and application tracking. Instead of only listing open positions, the Job Board assists students in understanding how their present skill set fits employers’ needs and in finding courses that can fill in certain gaps.
With almost 60% of its population under 25, Africa is the youngest continent in the world. However, despite the increasing demand for digital and technological skills, many young people still encounter obstacles to work. By 2030, over 230 million jobs in sub-Saharan Africa will demand digital skills, according to the International Finance Corporation, a member of the World Bank Group.
The forecast highlights the need to better link training to labor market need and indicates the extent to which digital capabilities are anticipated to influence the future of employment throughout the area.
The subject for this year, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” captures a reality that exists in all of our markets. Although young people come from diverse backgrounds, they all require pertinent skills and more obvious paths to opportunities. While companies are looking for the skills required in an increasingly digital economy, many Africans are investing in their futures through education and self-improvement.
According to Marina Madale, an MTN Group Executive, the economic significance of digital and financial inclusion increases when it facilitates economic participation.

By tying learning, skills, and opportunity together, MTN’s Job Board further demonstrates their dedication to economic and digital inclusivity.
The Job Board, which is accessible in 11 MTN markets where the talents Academy operates, lists open positions from companies around Africa and suggests suitable positions based on each learner’s location, talents, and career objectives. Opportunities may be browsed and filtered, employment requirements can be reviewed, vacancies can be saved, and the application, interview, and offer stages can be tracked. In situations when additional training could improve their fit for a position, the platform suggests pertinent free courses offered by the Skills Academy.
The MTN Skills Academy, which was established in 2022, assists youth in acquiring future-ready skills in fields that are in high demand, including as digital literacy, coding, data analytics, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and entrepreneurship. With approximately 526,000 enrollments, 192,000 course completions, and 1,122 specializations completed across 11 markets, the platform has already shown considerable impact and reach.
The Academy advances MTN’s commitment to digital inclusion for all by incorporating accessibility-by-design features that allow people of all abilities, including those with visual, cognitive, neurological, mobility, and age-related needs, to access, navigate, and successfully complete learning pathways.
By allowing students to present legitimate, verified accomplishments to potential employers and other stakeholders, certified digital certificates improve employability.
By adding personalised job discovery to the Skills Academy, MTN is advancing its broader ambition to enable Africa’s digital future, extending digital inclusion beyond access and learning towards clearer pathways to economic participation.
