In a formal move to ensure seamless institutional representation, the Bank of Ghana has officially designated Second Deputy Governor Mrs. Matilda Asante-Asiedu to act on behalf of the Central Bank’s Governor during all upcoming Goldbod Board deliberations.
The official directive, which came into force on Monday, May 11, 2026, grants Mrs. Asante-Asiedu full authority to participate in board sessions, contribute to key decision-making processes, and execute the complete range of duties and rights attached to the Governor’s seat on the board.
The communication was made public by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ghana Goldbod in an effort to clear the air regarding ongoing public conjecture.
Speculation had been circulating that the Governor’s absence from recent board matters signaled a formal resignation prompted by allegations surrounding Goldbod’s operations.

Addressing the rumors directly, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama clarified that his departure from direct involvement on the Goldbod board actually occurred roughly five months ago.
