Vincent Assafuah: COCOBOD Is Now A Crime Scene – Calls For Probe

Hon. Vincent Ekow Assafuah (MP for Old Tafo) made strong remarks about the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), describing it as a “crime scene” amid allegations of conflict of interest and irregularities.

During his appearance on Okay FM on Friday February 20, the Member of Parliament declared Ghana’s COCOBOD as a crime scene.

The core issue stems from his formal petition to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) on Thursday, February 19, 2026, calling for a full criminal and corruption-risk investigation into alleged conflict of interest involving COCOBOD’s Deputy CEO (linked to his past role at Atlas Commodities Ltd, which reportedly faced police reports in Jasikan and Hohoe for regulatory non-compliance).

Assafuah alleges potential abuse of office, hidden task force reports, and governance lapses at COCOBOD.
He invoked Article 287 of the 1992 Constitution and relevant OSP laws, urging probes into financial/decision trails and possible criminal elements.

This follows his push for an independent probe, with calls for transparency in COCOBOD’s operations. No official COCOBOD response is widely reported yet, but the matter has gained traction in Ghana.
