Mahama’s Promised Hope Now Leaves Ghanaians Hopeless— Titus Glover

Titus Glover

In a fiery appearance on Adom FM’s popular morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ on Monday February 23, former Greater Accra Regional Minister and staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) member Hon. Daniel Nii Kwartei Titus Glover launched a scathing critique of President John Dramani Mahama and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.

Glover accused the administration of failing to deliver on the “hope” that was central to the NDC’s 2024 election campaign messaging. Instead, he claimed, that promise has devolved into widespread hopelessness among ordinary Ghanaians less than two months into the new term (following Mahama’s inauguration in January 2026).

“The hope President Mahama and the NDC promised Ghanaians has been turned into ‘hopeless’,” Glover declared during the live broadcast.

He argued that early indicators—ranging from persistent high cost of living pressures to delays in implementing flagship policies like the much-touted 24-hour economy—have left many citizens disillusioned.

The remarks come amid ongoing partisan debates over the government’s performance. Opposition figures, including Glover, have repeatedly highlighted issues such as:

  • Rising or stagnant living costs despite campaign pledges for rapid relief.
  • Challenges in the cocoa sector and broader agricultural economy.
  • Perceived slow progress on job creation, infrastructure, and anti-galamsey (illegal small-scale mining) efforts.
  • Broader governance concerns, including appointments and policy execution.

This is not the first time Glover has held the ruling party accountable. Known for his sharp tongue and direct style, the former Deputy Transport Minister often appears as a guest commentator, dissecting government actions from an opposition viewpoint.

With the administration gone past its first 100 days and public sentiment still forming, rhetoric from both sides is expected to intensify.
