President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Mr. Aaron Kanor as the Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) with immediate effect.
The appointment was announced in an official statement issued by the Ghana Revenue Authority on Monday, February 23, 2026. The GRA’s release stated:
“His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana has appointed Mr. Aaron Kanor as Ag. Commissioner, Customs Division with immediate effect.”
Mr. Kanor takes over from Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, who previously held the position. Describing the new appointee, the GRA highlighted his extensive credentials: Mr. Aaron Kanor is an accomplished Customs professional with over three decades (more than 30 years) of distinguished service in revenue mobilization, border security, and trade facilitation at the GRA.

He has held various key roles, including Sector Commander at Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, among others. His career is noted for integrity, operational excellence, and strategic leadership.
The statement further emphasized that “Kanor’s appointment as Acting Commissioner reflects a career defined by integrity, operational excellence, and strategic leadership.” The statement added that his wealth of experience, strategic insight, and dedication to public service mark a significant step in strengthening Customs administration, improving compliance, and supporting Ghana’s economic growth through efficient and secure trade systems.
This move is seen as part of efforts to fortify Ghana’s borders, maximize revenue collection, and bring renewed spirit and direction to the Customs Division, which plays a critical role in revenue mobilization, border security, and trade facilitation.
The appointment comes amid broader reforms in public sector institutions following the change in government.
