Hotwav Phones Officially Launched As Shatta Wale Takes Big Business Leap

Ghanaian dancehall heavyweight Shatta Wale (Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr.) has officially unveiled Hotwav smartphones in Ghana, marking a major leap in his business journey.

Beyond fronting the brand, Shatta Wale is a co-partner and co-owner in the Ghanaian rollout of the Chinese rugged-phone maker, known for durable, high-spec devices built to withstand drops, water, and dust.

The grand launch took place on Thursday, February 25, 2026, at Labadi Beach Hotel (Omanye Conference Centre), drawing a packed audience and plenty of star power.

Featured Devices:

Hotwav Cyber 16 Pro (SM Series): Touted as a rugged powerhouse, boasting up to 24GB RAM and 512GB storage, designed for heavy users and extreme conditions.

Hotwav A17 Pro Max: Also spotlighted among the series introduced at the event.

Ahead of the launch, pre-orders came with incentives including a 5% discount and free AirPods.

Since January 2026, Shatta Wale has actively promoted the brand—gifting units to celebrities such as Medikal and Kwame A-Plus—while emphasizing that the venture goes beyond music to create jobs and opportunities, much like his Shaxi transport brand.

Star-Studded, High-Energy Launch:

The atmosphere was electric as Shatta Wale made a grand entrance, accompanied by his wife Maali. Industry colleagues and supporters, including Wendy Shay, media personality Andy Dosty, political figures, Albert Dwumfour of the Ghana Journalists Association, family members, and devoted SM fans all turned up to celebrate.

Early reactions from fans and commentators have been largely positive, hailing the move as a smart celebrity hustle.

While some jokingly note that the designs echo premium smartphones with a rugged twist, many believe Hotwav’s blend of affordability, durability, and strong specs positions it well to make a significant impact on the Ghanaian smartphone market.
