Why Strong Macroeconomic Indicators May Not Save The NDC – Senyo Hosi

Senyo Hosi

Finance and Economic Policy Analyst Senyo Hosi has warned that the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) risks shaping public perception and political loyalty not only through its economic performance, but also through how effectively it communicates and manages national issues.

According to Hosi, the government’s response to public concerns, the way it frames its policies, and its overall engagement with citizens will significantly influence how Ghanaians interpret events and align themselves politically.

Speaking on economic governance and public communication, Hosi stressed that strong macroeconomic indicators alone may not be enough to win and sustain public confidence. He argued that modern governance is increasingly judged not just by tangible outcomes, but by perception — specifically, how well leaders explain their decisions, manage public expectations, and respond to criticism.

Hosi cautioned that in today’s politically conscious and highly connected society, silence, vague messaging, or poorly executed communication strategies can quickly erode even the strongest economic achievements. He urged the government to treat communication as a central pillar of economic management, rather than an afterthought.

He further noted that public sentiment is particularly sensitive to narratives, especially during times of economic hardship or recovery. Hosi therefore called on the NDC administration to be deliberate and strategic in its engagement with citizens, stakeholders, and the media.

He emphasized that trust in government is built on consistency, clarity, and responsiveness. Failure to manage these elements effectively, he warned, could shape not only short-term public perception but also long-term political allegiance.

Hosi’s remarks come as Ghanaians continue to debate the pace of economic recovery, persistent cost-of-living challenges, and the current administration’s overall performance.
