Kaylee Hottle, a gifted young deaf actress who captured the hearts of many people worldwide with her breakthrough role as Jia in the popular monster franchise "Godzilla vs. Kong," sadly passed away. On July 21, 2026, the eighteen-year-old passed away in an automobile accident in Ijamsville, Maryland.
Joshua Hottle, her father, posted an announcement about her passing on Facebook.
Hottle was a native American Sign Language (ASL) signer who was born into a multi-generational deaf family. She made appearances in commercial initiatives, such as a community-supporting film from 2017, before attracting the attention of Hollywood.
When casting directors discovered her for Adam Wingard's 2021 feature picture Godzilla vs. Kong, her life completely changed. Hottle made her big-screen debut as Jia, an orphaned native of Iwi who develops an emotional link with the enormous monster Kong through sign language. She did a fantastic job in that movie.
Her portrayal in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the 2024 sequel, got her a nomination. In addition to the Godzilla franchise, Hottle was scheduled to participate in the upcoming movie "What Does not Kill Us" and guest starred in an episode of the television series Magnum P.I.
