YEA Expands Global Opportunities As Beneficiaries Secure UAE Employment

The beneficiaries embarking on the journey to UAE

The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) Ghana has intensified efforts to tackle youth unemployment by facilitating overseas job placements for young Ghanaians, with a new batch of beneficiaries departing for the United Arab Emirates under its Labour Exchange Programme.

The initiative, previously known as the YEA Work Abroad Programme, is designed to connect Ghanaian youth to international employment opportunities while equipping them with valuable skills and experience. The latest group of beneficiaries will be working in the hospitality sector with globally recognised brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, and Hardee’s on a two-year contract.

Ahead of their departure, the Agency organised a pre-departure orientation to prepare the beneficiaries for life and work abroad. Addressing the group, YEA Chief Executive Officer Malik Basintale expressed appreciation for their confidence in the programme and encouraged them to make the most of the opportunity.

He advised them to remain disciplined, respect the laws and workplace regulations in their host country, and stay committed to their professional responsibilities.

“You are ambassadors of Ghana. Your conduct, work ethic, and attitude will not only shape your future but also influence how Ghanaian workers are perceived globally,” he noted.

Basintale further assured the beneficiaries that the Agency would continue to prioritise their welfare throughout the duration of their contracts. He emphasised that YEA will maintain constant communication with them and provide support whenever necessary.
Officials say this approach is aimed at ensuring the safety, well-being, and success of participants while they work abroad.

The Labour Exchange Programme is part of broader interventions by the Youth Employment Agency to create sustainable employment opportunities for young people across the country. By linking local talent to international job markets, the programme seeks to reduce unemployment while fostering skills development and global exposure.

Beyond immediate job placement, the initiative is expected to have long-term benefits, as returning beneficiaries can apply the knowledge and experience gained abroad to contribute to Ghana’s economic growth.

As more young Ghanaians look beyond local opportunities, YEA’s expanding international partnerships signal a growing commitment to opening new pathways for employment and empowerment on a global scale.
