“Would He Be Happy?” – Bawumia’s Aide Questions Kennedy Agyapong’s Rants

The Communications Director for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has turned up the heat on former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, questioning the motives behind his recent string of public attacks on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its leadership.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s “Ekosii Sen” on Friday, June 19, Mr. Aboagye put Kennedy Agyapong’s grievances under scrutiny, suggesting the outspoken lawmaker would not have tolerated similar treatment had their positions been swapped.

He posed a hypothetical that cut straight to the heart of the matter — asking whether Agyapong would have remained calm if he, rather than Bawumia, had been the party’s presidential candidate facing comparable internal friction.

“If Kennedy was the presidential aspirant of the NPP, would he be happy if Bawumia had done this to him?” Aboagye asked, directly addressing the tension that has built up around Agyapong’s recent comments.

Aboagye’s intervention lands at a delicate moment for the NPP, with internal debates intensifying over Kennedy Agyapong’s repeated public broadsides against his own party. The former MP has not minced words in expressing his frustration with what he sees as failures within the party’s leadership and structures, and he has hinted that he may go further by exposing internal matters.

The fallout has reignited broader conversations within the governing party about unity, internal discipline, and democratic practice — questions that carry added weight as the NPP positions itself for its next political phase.

What Kennedy Agyapong Has Been Saying

In a series of recent public appearances and circulating audio clips, Agyapong has levelled sharp criticism at his own party, pointing to what he describes as weak internal discipline, betrayal, sabotage, and mishandling of public trust.

He has also alleged that some party members were tied to galamsey (illegal mining) activities, arguing that these internal interests made it difficult for the then-NPP administration to fully stamp out the practice — effectively undermining the fight against illegal mining from within.

Agyapong has further warned that he could “expose” certain party members if provoked, while voicing anger over what he describes as feeling pushed and provoked by colleagues within his own party.
