Saddick Adams, a sports journalist and host of Angel FM morning Show, is cautioning the Ghana Football Association (GFA) from making the same mistakes that hurt the squad prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, suggesting that Ghana’s preparations for the next phase of the Black Stars are generating recurrent concerns.
Adams said, with a significant international assignment coming up and the Black Stars still lacking a capable head coach, Ghana is once again in an awkward position.
Adams voiced concerns about the timing of the coaching position on Angel FM on Monday, September 17. He emphasized that the nation is running out of crucial training time before the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifications.
He said the current state of affairs is comparable to the uncertainties Ghana had prior to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, when supporters were deeply concerned about the technical direction of the national team.
Adams thinks the GFA needs to move quickly to choose a coach and give the new technical team the time to find players, develop a playing style, and properly prepare the Black Stars because the AFCON qualifications are only a month away.

For him, appointing a coach should not be treated as a last-minute exercise. The coach needs time to assess the squad, build relationships with the players and implement a system before competitive matches begin.
The Black Stars remain one of Ghana’s most important sporting symbols, and expectations are always high whenever the national team enters a major qualifying campaign. Any prolonged uncertainty over the technical bench, therefore, risks creating unnecessary pressure on both the players and the football authorities.
Adams’ warning is ultimately a call for the GFA to learn from the past rather than repeat it.
With another important qualification campaign approaching, Ghana cannot afford to wait until the last moment before putting the pieces together. The earlier the technical direction is settled, the better positioned the Black Stars will be to begin their AFCON campaign with confidence and purpose.
