The NPP Is Spreading Hoaxes Without Doing Research— GoldBod CEO

GoldBod CEO, Sammy Gyamfi

Sammy Gyamfi, CEO of GoldBod and National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress, has taken aim at the opposition New Patriotic Party, accusing it of peddling what he called “dirty propaganda” against the NDC and its officials.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Gyamfi argued that the NPP’s current approach to opposition politics is built on claims that lack research, accuracy or any serious engagement with the facts. In his view, the party is making public allegations without doing the groundwork to back them up.

“We wouldn’t have been in power if we had done this kind of dirty propaganda like what the NPP is doing now,” he said — a pointed suggestion that the NDC’s path back to government was paved by credible, evidence-based criticism rather than misinformation.

Gyamfi was careful to draw a distinction between political accountability and what he sees as the NPP’s current tactics. He acknowledged that the NDC attacked the NPP during its years in opposition, but insisted those attacks were anchored in documented facts rather than, as he put it, “hoaxes.” Effective opposition, he argued, demands that parties present the public with credible information — not noise.

The remarks are the latest salvo in an increasingly sharp exchange between Ghana’s two dominant parties, with governance decisions, policy direction and political accountability all providing flashpoints for debate. With both sides firmly dug in, communicators on each front are unlikely to soften their tone anytime soon.
