Former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has once again turned his fire on his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing senior figures within the party of betrayal, sabotage, and complicity in the very galamsey menace the party once vowed to fight.
Speaking in a recent interview on Net 2 TV, alongside audio clips that have since circulated widely across Ghana’s media landscape, Agyapong did not hold back. He painted a picture of a party hollowed out from within — one plagued by weak discipline, internal betrayal, sabotage, and a troubling disregard for public trust.
His criticism went beyond generalities. Agyapong directly implicated some of his own party colleagues in galamsey activities, alleging that their involvement in illegal mining compromised the NPP government’s ability to fully confront the problem during its time in office. According to him, these conflicting interests within the party’s own ranks effectively undercut the fight against galamsey from the inside.
Kennedy Agyapong Will Never Be President Of Ghana
In perhaps the most striking part of his remarks, Agyapong warned that he would name top NPP officials implicated in galamsey dealings if the party continued to provoke him. The threat signals a potential escalation, with Agyapong suggesting he is prepared to go public with information he has so far kept private.
Beyond the galamsey allegations, Agyapong’s comments revealed a deeper personal grievance. He expressed anger at feeling pushed and provoked by colleagues within his own party, framing this mounting pressure as the very reason he may be compelled to reveal internal secrets and wrongdoing if the situation does not change.
He went further, repeatedly suggesting that he has been sidelined and treated unfairly within the party, alleging that certain individuals are actively working against him politically — a claim that adds a layer of personal rivalry to what is already a charged internal NPP dispute.
