Global business leader and CEO of MTN Benin, Uche Ofodile, has officially launched her first book, ‘Beneath the Smile: Leadership Infrastructure’, on January 31, 2026. Published by The Smile Collective, the 100-page work is now available in paperback and eBook formats on Amazon and other digital platforms.
Ofodile, known for hosting the podcast ‘Don’t Let the Smile Fool You’, draws from more than 20 years of experience leading in high-stakes, high-pressure environments—where displaying vulnerability or “falling apart” was rarely an option. The book challenges the conventional emphasis on resilience alone, arguing that resilience eventually depletes. Instead, she introduces Leadership Infrastructure, a practical, sustainable framework for leaders to build inner systems that support long-term effectiveness without burnout.
Concept and Structure:
Using the metaphor of a house, Ofodile structures the book around five “floors” of leadership infrastructure, plus a foundational basement.
• Basement: The deepest level where leaders confront truth, process grief, and face unfiltered realities.
• Foundation (First Floor): The bedrock of character, values, and self-awareness—where true stability begins, not with strategy or visibility.
Support, Recovery, Growth.
• Presence: Progressive levels addressing habits, emotional recovery, continuous development, and authentic outward presence.

The book blends personal reflection with actionable tools, including a Leadership Infrastructure Self-Assessment and “Building Blocks” exercises. These help readers identify early signs of strain, reinforce supportive structures, and lead with steadiness, clarity, and integrity amid increasing pressure.
Ofodile emphasizes that this is not a guide to performance theatrics or superficial resilience. It’s about the unseen foundations that allow leadership to endure: “Resilience runs out, but systems don’t.”
Since its release, the book has generated strong early praise, particularly in African leadership and business communities. Readers on LinkedIn and Instagram describe it as “deeply moving,” “honest,” and a “powerful reframe” on the inner work of leadership.
Ofodile has shared that, Leadership Infrastructure is proactive—building systems to absorb the load of leadership so it remains effective without constant personal sacrifice.
