Broadcast Journalist Omanhene Kwabena Asante has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he described as disrespectful treatment of Nana Yaa Jantuah, arguing that the former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), and now a Presidential staffer should have been accorded greater respect as a representative of President John Dramani Mahama.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Friday, August 7, Omanhene Kwabena Asante said the NPP ought to have recognised Nana Yaa Jantuah’s position and the significance of her presence at the event.
According to him, irrespective of political differences, Nana Yaa Jantuah was attending in a representative capacity and therefore deserved the necessary courtesy and protocol.
He suggested that the manner in which she was treated reflected a lack of respect not only for her as an individual but also for the office and person she represented.

Omanhene Kwabena Asante’s comments have reignited discussions about political etiquette, respect for opposing political figures and the importance of observing proper protocol during public and political engagements.
He argued that political differences should not be an excuse for people to neglect fundamental civility, especially when interacting with presidential representatives.
His comments coincide with a resurgence of public debates over the dynamics between Ghana’s main political parties and the behavior of political figures during public gatherings.
Nana Yaa Jantuah, who represented the Government during Thursday’s democracy march to accept the petition from NPP protestors, claims that the Party treated her like “a nobody.”
According to Omanhene Kwabena Asante, the problem extends beyond Nana Yaa Jantuah specifically and involves the more general idea of honoring political office, representation, and public people’ dignity.
