Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, the former Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante Akyem North (serving from 2013 to 2017 under the New Patriotic Party – NPP), has stated that his earnings from the media industry significantly exceeded what he made during his time in politics.
This revelation came during his appearance on Angel FM’s morning show, hosted by Saddick Adams (popularly known as Sports Obama), on Monday, January 12, 2026.
Before entering politics, he had a notable career in the media and marketing sector: He previously worked as a Key Accounts Manager and Sales Manager at Multimedia Group Limited (including roles tied to Asempa FM).
He is also associated with Sportslife Ghana and holds qualifications in marketing, advertising, and public administration. He won the Asante Akyem North parliamentary seat in the 2012 elections but did not contest in 2016. Since then, he has held positions like CEO of Ghana Digital Centres Limited and has been involved in NPP activities, including attempts to return as a parliamentary candidate.
Public Sector Workers Deserve Better: Omanhene Kwabena Asante
His comment highlights a common sentiment among some public figures in Ghana: that private sector roles (especially in media, sales, or business) can often be more lucrative than the salaries and allowances provided to politicians, despite the prestige and influence of political office.
This kind reflection by the former MP often sparks broader conversations about public service versus private earnings in Ghanaian politics.
