In what they describe as one of the biggest narcotics busts in the nation, Liberian authorities have confiscated nearly four tons of cocaine valued at an estimated $317 million (€277 million).
Passengers were drawn to Roberts International Airport during this significant episode. The weight of the cocaine was almost thirty kilometers. Two foreign nationals were apprehended by the Monrovia police.
The attorney general and justice minister claimed that the seizure exposed a well-organized, sophisticated, intricate, and well-funded drug trafficking network.
An estimated $317.7 million (€279.1 million) worth of “about 3,971 kilograms of processed plates of probable cocaine” were found by investigators.
After the raid, bags of suspected drugs and other evidence were transported in the open-bed truck.

The seizure comes after a significant drug arrest at the same airport in June, when five men and a logistics company were charged after officials found 237.6 kilograms of cocaine hidden in what looked to be regular commercial cargo.
Liberian President Joseph Boakai has declared a coordinated inquiry to guarantee that “any individual found culpable is totally accountable under the law” and has vowed to “expose and destroy” the networks behind the country’s drug trade in the wake of the seizure.
