
Nigerian authorities have begun evacuating citizens stranded in Iran as Israeli and US airstrikes continue to target Tehran and other Iranian cities. Officials confirmed that no Nigerian nationals in the country have been harmed so far, and that embassy staff are positioned at the Armenian border to facilitate safe passage for those wishing to leave.
Nigerian embassy personnel in Tehran are escorting evacuees across the Armenian border, with commissioners describing the process as orderly and secure.
However, authorities have not disclosed how many Nigerians are currently based in Iran or how many have already been evacuated. Nigeria is not alone in its efforts — several other African nations have launched similar operations to bring their citizens home from the region.

Many of those who have returned spoke of their relief at being reunited with family members following a tense and uncertain period.
Iran, meanwhile, says the conflict has claimed more than 1,255 lives and left around 10,000 people injured.
