Two New Non-Executive Directors Are Added To CalBank PLC’s Board

With the Bank of Ghana’s consent, CalBank PLC has named Mr. Eric Nana Otoo and Professor Samuel Agyei-Ampomah as Non-Executive Directors.

In compliance with applicable corporate governance and regulatory standards, the appointments will be put to the shareholders for approval at the Bank’s next Annual General Meeting.

The two successful experts have a wealth of knowledge in education, corporate governance, investment management, finance, and business leadership. Their appointments strengthen the Board’s ability to advance its strategic transformation and provide long-term value for shareholders and other stakeholders while also bolstering CalBank’s dedication to the highest standards of corporate governance.

Board Member Profiles:

Professor Samuel Agyei-Ampomah: is an outstanding academic, financial executive, and corporate governance specialist with more than three decades of international experience encompassing finance, risk management, governance, and higher education leadership.

He was a professor of finance and dean at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), where he held senior leadership positions and made contributions to institutional strategy, governance, and financial management. He is currently the rector of Fanaka International University College.

Senior academic positions in prestigious UK universities, such as Cranfield University, the University of Surrey, Aston University, and the University of Strathclyde, have been held by Professor Agyei-Ampomah. Having chaired the boards of trustees for occupational pension provident fund schemes, he also has a wealth of board and fiduciary experience.

He has provided corporate governance, financial strategy, operational and sovereign risk management, and capital markets advice to governments, financial institutions, regulators, and multinational corporations. He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (UK), has a PhD and MSc in finance from the University of Strathclyde, and a First-Class Honours degree in computer science and economics from the University of Ghana.

With over 20 years of worldwide experience in both Africa and the US, Eric Nana Otoo is a seasoned business leader, private equity executive, and corporate transformation specialist.

As the founding managing director and chief executive officer of Ghana Amalgamated Trust (GAT), he oversaw the organization’s founding and provided support for significant financial sector stabilization initiatives, such as the creation of a $500 million financial sector stabilization framework backed by the World Bank and the Government of Ghana.

With a wealth of experience in strategy, investing, mergers and acquisitions, governance, and financial analysis, Eric has held top positions at Duet Private Equity, Diageo/Guinness Ghana Breweries, McKinsey & Company, Goldman Sachs, and Towers Watson.

He graduated with academic honors from Grinnell College in Iowa, USA, with a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and Economics.
