Carlos Queiroz’s future, however, is anticipated to be decided by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Executive Council following a review of his technical report from Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign.
On Friday, July 31, 2026, the Executive Council is set to convene in order to review the Portuguese coach’s report and appraise his overall performance throughout the competition.

After the Black Stars defeated Panama 1-0 and held England to a goalless draw, Queiroz led Ghana through the group stage. Ghana went to the knockout stage as one of the top third-place teams after losing 2-1 to Croatia.
Before the GFA determines whether to stick with Queiroz or go in a new route, the review is anticipated to take into account the team’s overall performance, tactical approach, and the coach’s technical report.
Just before the World Cup, in April 2026, Queiroz was appointed. Since his contract was originally supposed to last for four months, the impending evaluation is especially important for the future of the national team.
Meanwhile, former GFA president Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has openly advocated for Queiroz’s retention, claiming that the Black Stars would benefit from continuity as Ghana gets ready for next international tournaments.
