Ghana’s Black Princesses suffered a 2-1 defeat to Mexico’s Under-20 women’s team in a closed-door international friendly on Saturday, 29 August 2026, as both sides continued their preparations for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Poland.
The match, played at the Stadion Miejskiego Klubu Sportowego Górnik Wałbrzych, served as the Black Princesses’ second warm-up fixture since arriving in Poland.
Head coach Charles Sampson’s side had opened their pre-tournament campaign with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Polish club Ślęza Wrocław earlier in the week.
The Central American side took control and secured a narrow win, handing Ghana their first loss of the preparation phase.

The Black Princesses are preparing for their eighth consecutive appearance at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. Drawn in Group C alongside Ecuador, South Korea and France, Ghana will open their campaign against Ecuador on 6 September.
The team is aiming to advance beyond the group stage for the first time in their history.
Coach Sampson is expected to use the remaining days in camp to analyse the performance against Mexico, fine-tune tactics and finalise his squad selections ahead of the global showpiece.
The result provides valuable competitive experience against quality opposition as the Black Princesses build towards the tournament.
