Veteran broadcaster Omanhene Kwabena Asante has called on President John Dramani Mahama to pay close attention to developments within his government, warning that growing signs of disagreement among some ministers could undermine the administration’s broader policy direction if not properly managed.

Speaking during a discussion on Asempa FM on Monday, April 20, Omanhene Kwabena Asante expressed concern that what he described as internal “fighting” among certain government appointees was beginning to attract public attention, and could create avoidable setbacks for the President’s agenda.

According to him, while differences in opinion within a government are normal, they must be carefully managed to prevent them from escalating into public disputes that may weaken coordination and delivery.

“President Mahama, please check your ministers. They are fighting themselves now,” he cautioned, stressing that the situation requires urgent presidential attention before it develops into a deeper governance challenge.

Omanhene’s remarks come at a time when discussions about unity and coordination within political administrations have become a recurring theme in public discourse. Analysts often argue that the success of any government depends heavily on how well ministers and senior officials work together to implement policies.

Kwabena Asante suggested that if these internal disagreements are not addressed quickly, they could slow down decision-making processes, create confusion in policy communication, and ultimately affect public confidence in the government.

He further implied that the President must not only focus on policy formulation but also ensure strong internal discipline and cohesion among his appointees.

Political observers frequently note that disagreements within governments are not unusual, especially in large administrations where different ministries handle overlapping responsibilities.

However, when such disagreements become public or appear to influence decision-making, they can become a source of concern.

Omanhene Kwabena Asante’s comments highlight the importance of maintaining unity at the highest levels of government, particularly during periods when major policy initiatives are being rolled out.

According to governance experts, strong coordination mechanisms—such as regular cabinet meetings, clear communication channels, and defined roles—are essential to prevent misunderstandings among ministers.

Omanhene Kwabena Asante concluded his remarks by urging the President to take proactive steps to address the situation before it escalates further. He emphasized that strong leadership involves not only setting national priorities but also ensuring that the team responsible for implementing those priorities remains united and focused.

As the conversation continues, attention will likely remain on how the Presidency manages internal coordination and whether steps will be taken to address the concerns raised.
