According to FIFA President Gianni Infantino, all 104 matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup (co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico) are effectively “sold out” due to unprecedented demand, even though some tickets remain available for now.
In a recent interview with CNBC on February 18, 2026, Infantino stated:
“The demand is there. Every match is sold out… (We’ve) never seen anything like that — incredible.”
He highlighted that the main sales phase in January generated 508 million ticket requests from over 200 countries for roughly 7 million available tickets. This marks a record-breaking level of interest for the expanded 48-team tournament.
However, there’s a nuance: FIFA has deliberately held back some tickets for the upcoming Last-Minute Sales phase, which begins in early April 2026 and runs through the end of the tournament (July 19, 2026).
