UBA Engages GoldBod On Financial Solutions For Ghana’s Gold Value Chain

United Bank for Africa has deepened its engagement within Ghana’s gold sector following a high-level meeting between senior executives of the bank and the leadership of Ghana Gold Board.

The engagement brought together UBA’s Executive Director for Digital Banking Emmanuel Lamptey and Samuel Ocheho, the Group Executive for Treasury and Financial Institutions, who met with the Chief Executive Officer of GoldBod, Samuel Gyamfi, to discuss strategic partnership opportunities and business support solutions for GoldBod, aggregators, and stakeholders across Ghana’s gold value chain.

The discussions centered on leveraging innovative financial solutions to strengthen the country’s gold trading ecosystem. Key areas explored included digital banking services, treasury management, trade facilitation, and value-chain financing aimed at improving efficiency and supporting sustainable growth within the industry.

The meeting also highlighted the growing importance of collaboration between financial institutions and industry regulators as Ghana intensifies reforms in the gold trading sector through GoldBod. Current reforms are focused on enhancing traceability, promoting formalisation, encouraging value addition, boosting foreign exchange generation, and ensuring long-term sustainability in the industry.
