The NPP Youth Were Just Disciplined And Better. The NDC Would Have Been Different – Janet Nabla

Janet Asana Nabla

Janet Nabla, the chairperson of the People's National Party (PNP), praised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters' behavior during Thursday's protest, characterizing it as peaceful and disciplined.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, Nabla stated on Adom FM that the protest was mostly nonviolent and demonstrated participant restraint.

She claims that the NPP youth behaved appropriately during the demonstration, refraining from acts that would have increased hostilities or led to violence.

Using a political analogy, Nabla asserted that the result would have been different if members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) had planned a similar protest under identical conditions.

"The NPP youth were very disciplined throughout the march on Thursday," she said. During the radio conversation, she said, "The NDC would have been different."

Her comments, which contrast the behavior of followers of Ghana's two main political parties, are sure to spark more political discussion. Members of the NDC would disagree with the description and defend the actions of their own followers during earlier public protests, while NPP supporters might see her remarks as acknowledging their nonviolent behavior.

Political parties and civil society organizations regularly go to the streets to voice their concerns about national issues, and political protests continue to be a significant aspect of Ghana's democratic scene. Regardless of political background, these incidents frequently raise public awareness of the value of upholding the law, preserving peace, and safeguarding people's lives and property.

Janet Nabla's comments add another dimension to the ongoing national conversation about political tolerance, public demonstrations, and the conduct of party supporters in Ghana.
