Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus) has said former Ghanaian leader Jerry John Rawlings was the most suitable person to have transformed Ghana but did not fully achieve that vision.
Speaking during a discussion on Asempa FM on Thursday, March 26, 2026, A Plus explained that Rawlings had the rare opportunity, power and public support to fundamentally reshape the country’s systems and institutions.
According to him, Rawlings’ long period of leadership — first as a military ruler and later as a democratically elected president — placed him in a unique position to implement strong reforms that could have permanently changed Ghana’s governance structure.

A Plus noted that while Rawlings introduced some significant policies and reforms during his time in power, many of the structural challenges Ghana faces today, including issues related to corruption and accountability, remain unresolved.
He therefore argued that despite Rawlings having the best chance to transform the country, the expected long-term transformation did not fully materialise.
