Omanhene Kwabena Asante Backs Mahama, Calls For Genuine Reset Strategy

Media personality Omanhene Kwabena Asante has stated that President John Dramani Mahama remains a key figure of hope for Ghana—provided he recommits to what he describes as the “proper” implementation of the much-discussed reset agenda.

Speaking on Asempa FM on Monday, April 20, Kwabena Asante emphasized that while expectations around Mahama remain high, the direction and execution of policies under a reset vision will be crucial.

According to him, many Ghanaians continue to look to Mahama for a better leadership, especially in a period marked by economic and governance challenges. However, he stressed that hope alone is not enough—what matters is a clear, principled, and disciplined approach to governance.

He suggested that a genuine “reset” must go beyond slogans and reflect in practical reforms, accountability, and a commitment to national interest over political convenience.

In his view, if properly pursued, such an agenda could restore confidence in leadership and help reposition the country on a path of growth.

Kwabena Asante’s remarks come amid ongoing national conversations about governance, political responsibility, and the expectations placed on leaders, particularly as public scrutiny of policy direction and delivery continues to intensify.

His comments add a nuanced layer to the broader political discourse, balancing criticism with a conditional endorsement—one that hinges on what he sees as the need for a more grounded and sincere approach to leadership under a reset framework.
