Jennifer Lopez has never had the luxury of being seen in public without the rumour mill spinning — and her recent Broadway outing with British actor and Ted Lasso star Brett Goldstein proved that nothing has changed.
The two were spotted together at a Broadway show, a sighting that immediately set social media ablaze with speculation. What gave the gossip additional fuel was the fact that Lopez and Goldstein are co-stars in an upcoming film, Office Romance, currently generating considerable buzz ahead of its release.
The pair addressed the chatter head-on during an appearance on NBC’s Today Show, where co-host Savannah Guthrie wasted little time raising the subject. Lopez was direct:
“There’s never a time when I’m seen with somebody or working with somebody where they don’t try to put me with the person.”
Goldstein leaned into the moment with characteristic humour:
“I think if you stand near her, that’s what happens… That’s why I’ve been standing so close this whole time!”
Lopez then went further, pointing to just how routine the experience has become for her.
“I think I was with Costner this year,” she said, listing the string of men she had been falsely linked to in recent months. “There was a lot of people. It happens all the time. Doesn’t make it true.”
She closed the matter with two words — “Not dating” — and Goldstein simply confirmed: “Correct.”
Jennifer Lopez Shares An Advice For Men And Reflects On Four Failed Marriages
The public’s appetite for Lopez’s love life is well-documented, shaped in large part by her headline-dominating relationship with Ben Affleck. The two first fell in love in the early 2000s, got engaged, and then called it off amid the suffocating glare of celebrity culture. Two decades later, they rekindled the relationship in what became one of Hollywood’s most celebrated reunions, marrying in July 2022. That chapter, too, came to an end when Lopez filed for divorce in August 2024.
It is a romantic history that has played out almost entirely in public — and one that has perhaps made audiences unusually invested in whoever she happens to be photographed beside. Lopez, who has been married four times and shares twins with singer Marc Anthony, appears to have made peace with the scrutiny, even as she pushes back against it.
For now, at least, the message is unambiguous: just co-stars.
